![]() ![]() ![]() I loved this book and did not expect it to be so creepy. Aveline discovers that the book belonged to a girl, Primrose Penberthy, who went missing over thirty years ago. Aveline pays a visit to the local old bookstore and buys a book about ghost stories specifically about Malmouth and the surrounding areas. Aveline’s curiosity and interest in ghosts soon make her wonder if Malmouth has any ghosts. A spooky atmosphere surrounds Malmouth, with its rainy and cold weather as well as creepy scarecrows that peer from people’s front yards. The story is about Aveline Jones who loves reading ghost stories and soon finds herself in one.Īveline needs to stay with her Aunt Lilian, who lives in a small town Malmouth, for a few days while her mother visits her Gran. First off, the cover is mysterious and upon opening the book the illustrations create a creepy Autumn and spooky vibe. The Haunting of Aveline Jones is a middle-grade ghost story for children aged 9-12 years old.
